Asscher Cut Diamonds
Calculated Appraisal Value: Unable to Calculate Value
Asscher cut or square emerald cut diamonds were developed by some of premier diamond cutting experts in early the 20th century. The has eight sides with four of them being longer, so the diamond looks almost like a square. It is a step cut meaning the light reflects in horizontal channels rather than dispersed through prisms like a brilliant cut.

A Royal Look
Since seeing my first asscher cut diamond, I have been a fan. I love the symmetry and square step cut look especially in an antique ring or setting. Asscher cut diamonds seem perfect in an elegant ring. There are some drawbacks: the market for asschers is much more limited, like most step-cuts clarity is more important, and the cut style is deep meaning they look smaller than rounds from a top view.
