Emerald cut diamonds are classic. They are step cut meaning light reflects in perpendicular angles. They have 4 noticeable sizes with 4 more squared-off corners, which makes them easier to set and less likely to break.

Beautiful But Must Be Clean
I love emeralds. They are so classic and seem to one of the fancy shaped diamonds that is less cyclical. Light reflects differently through their prism, so you miss some of sparkle that a round has. My main caution with emerald cut diamonds is to look at them first. Often, flaws reflect and are more noticeable in a step cut diamond than a brilliant cut. With that said, the prettiest emerald I have ever seen was an SI2 with the flaws in the corner.
